Glowing, smooth skin is a sign of good health! Your skin is a reflection of your diet and lifestyle. Eat well, sleep well, exercise regularly, and your skin will thank you. Of course genetics and environment both have a huge impact on the condition of your skin, but you can still be proactive with skin care and you will see results! Things to do for better skin:Hydrate: This is so crucial. Water flushes out toxins, rehydrates cells, and is paramount to every bodily function. Drink at least 2 liters a day and your skin will be bright and glow. Eat fruits and vegetables: No-brainer! Focus especially on leafy greens, sweet potatoes, and berries. Eat good fats: Avocado, coconut oil, and raw nuts are all great for nourishing your skin. Don't go overboard but definitely do not skimp on the healthy fats! Sleep: At least 7 hours a day. Lack of sleep will dull your skin and disrupt the cell renewing cycle. Cleanse: Don't go to sleep with makeup on. Change your pillowsheets once a week. Keep the surfaces in contact with your skin as clean as possible. Exfoliate: Once or twice a week is good. Exfoliating scrubs the dead cells away and opens up your pores. I like to use fine raw sugar. Things to avoid for better skin:Sodium: Draws moisture out of your skin and dries it out. Season your food with less salt and use herbs and citrus fruits instead. Artificial sweeteners: Promotes inflammation, which makes your face look puffy. Alcohol: Is very dehydrating, dulls your skin and makes you look tired. Cut alcohol and you will lose weight, be less bloated. Obviously smoking has the same effect. Fried foods: are packed with trans fats and clog arteries, which hardens blood cells and makes your skin look dull. Deli meat: Preservatives like nitrates and nitrites cause inflammation, and cold cuts are often very high in sodium as well. Dairy: Different people have varying reactions to dairy. The hormones in dairy can be a problem for some, causing breakouts and bloat. Try cutting it out completely for 2 weeks and observe any results. Spicy foods: Can cause breakouts for some people. Even though they are good for metabolism try not to eat too much spice. Stress: Wreaks havoc on your skin. Try to relax. Go for a walk, do some yoga, read a book, light some candles, take a bath, bake some cookies...anything that will help clear your head is good. Contact: Keep your hands OFF your face. Over the course of the day your hands gather billions of bacteria you don't want on your skin. Resist the temptation to scratch your nose, rub your eyes, or touch your face. Give these tips a go! It can't hurt and I guarantee you will see improvements!

I was delighted to have the lovely Electra of healthyselfco interview me!
I talk about my health philosophy, what I eat in a day, and plans I have for the future! You can read all about it here. You know those healthy desserts that taste... well, like spinach mixed with chocolate? Yeah, no. I appreciate the effort but I'd rather have the real thing! These bars however, taste indulgent. Quite similar to a frozen fudgy brownie smothered with chocolate ice cream! No spinach here. Fudgesicle Bars
