**Everyday for the month of November I will write down one thing I am grateful for.**See last week's post here. DAY 8: Friends. I need them, they need me. Sleepovers, weekly mall walking, american idol playing, lining up to meet atl and get signatures, auntie anne's cinnamon pretzel stix, practicing gymnastics at 4am (where is that video), tennis+baseball+football games, attempting to fry an egg on the sidewalk, late night trips to walmart for chicken tenders and mac n cheese, matching VS underwear with a $10 coupon, getting sick from rocky road cookie dough, ironing Alex Gaskarth's face on t-shirts, singing karaoke, backyard summer bbqs, staying at that fancy hotel for an orchestra performance, cakefights, flour fights, baking snickerdoodles and the MOST amazing tollhouse pb choc chip cookies, eating the most incredible garlic bread before the state swim meet, our hotel room my God we played softball with a otis spunkmeyer banana nut muffin..., swim banquets, pool parties+hamburgers+chex mix+four wheelers+iPod in rice, that awful, unimaginably hot trip to shanghai where all the food was sweet and we spent all day on a bus, exploring hongkong and staying out til 3, spooning watermelon in our hotel room overlooking the rooftop pool the morning before the SAT, taking selfies in a restaurant kitchen, late night taxi rides, and simply sitting down to ice cream after a long dance rehearsal. Friends♥
DAY 9: Music. Especially songs that can make me cry. Or suited to listening while swinging on a farm on a windy day. Or while walking along the beach on a cloudy day with cold wet sand seeping through your toes.
And podcasts. I listen to podcasts All. Day. Long. My favorites are (don't laugh): manic mommies, joy the baker, simple mom, wait wait don't tell me, the model health show, cut the fat, and npr Ted radio. I really enjoy mom podcasts for some reason. I love listening to their daily life and experiences, especially when I relate to their kid's nuances and persnickety. DAY 10: Time to relax. It's been a crazy week; I've been running all over the city for dance rehearsals and performances, school stuff, work and college related things. Each day has been packed to the brim except for a few sparse hours in the afternoon and precious moments in the morning and at night. The rush has made me appreciate the necessity of relaxing and unwinding. I definitely need time to destress and recover after a busy day. Even just to sit down to a homecooked meal makes all the difference! It feels so good to just lie down and cuddle up with my iPad and an episode of castle. He really is ruggedly handsome. Nah just kidding but now I know I love the idea of being super busy more than I like living that kind of life. Totally sleeping in tomorrow. DAY 11: Rain. Either a light mist (gossamer? I love that word) or a thundering storm. Anything in the middle is annoying. Today the sky spritzed the city; rain drizzled down the entire day, while I walked to the subway, at school, to dance, to the performance at a charity event, to the studio to change into shoes that don't make my toenails want to fall off. My Dad says this is the kind of rain that rejuvenates and freshens your skin, and I totally believe it. Put down the umbrellas girls. DAY 12: Smiles. First impressions are so paramount to one's overall idea of a person and smiling makes it a good one! People are beautiful when they are happy. Plus when the hottest guy smiles at you it's possibly better than life. DAY 13: Compassion. I had the idea to donate some money towards the typhoon haiyan cause. When I wrote about it on instagram there was an outpouring of love that took me by surprise. People truly care, and that's extremely encouraging for others in their time of need. DAY 14: Honesty. I was reading some blogs that I resonated with...almost too close for comfort. Lindsayslist and
ittybitsofbalance. I need to be true to myself and practice what I preach. It's gonna be tough; the hardest thing I've ever done, but I am worth it.
