What a bounty of nuts my parents bought last night! Season 4 of Downton Abbey was promptly forgotten as we taste tested this autumn's initial harvest. Bags of pecans, peanuts (I know they're not technically nuts), almonds, walnuts, and macadamias sat opened, awaited their judgement.
Here were the favorites!
Me: almonds (severely biased), macadamias and peanuts (humor me)
Mom: macadamias "They're so crunchy and vanilla sweet."
Dad: "I like pumpkin seeds more." (I so empathize with that feeling)
We unofficially decided to rank them in a couple ways.
1) Crunch: macadamia! followed by pecans.
2) Addictiveness: peanuts! couldn't get enough of the sweet, roasted, rich taste.
3) Ease of eating: peanuts again, followed by almonds. macadamias get major point deductions here. i forgo them because i'm too lazy to crack them open. plus i'm fond of my fingers and don't want to lose any.
4) Flavor: divided. i vote almonds! and since this is my blog almonds win.
Missing in action were buttery, rich cashews but that's okay cos everyone likes cashews best anyway.
My attempt at being artistic.
Unshown is the behind-the-scenes setup of this morning, complete with me running back and forth from the kitchen to the porch, handling rolly macadamias, and eating props.
Makes me happy.
