**Everyday for the month of November I will write down one thing I am grateful for**
DAY 1: Family. I love my parents more than anything in the world. They are my best friends, my biggest supporters, and my most valuable mentors. Our time together is always filled with laughter and joy and smiles and warmth. I can't imagine sharing my life with anyone else, and can only hope to make them proud as their daughter. Mom, dad, you truly mean the world to me and I love you so much. ♥♥
DAY 2: Education. Most people now have the ability to learn, improve, and become better individuals. So often we take for granted the one thing that no one can take away from us: How we think. The more we learn the better equipped we are to make decisions that can benefit ourselves and the world. Education is so accessible too, I can simply log on to ocw.mit and study MIT's lecture notes from my own home on my own schedule, without paying tuition or attending class. Or watch videos on Khan Academy. Even YouTube can teach me how to dance, cook, and play the recorder. There are so many opportunities to enrich our minds, and I wholly plan to take advantage.
DAY 3: Dance. If you asked me even two years ago if I could dance I would look at you like the gum on my shoe. I considered myself a watcher. And if I couldn't convince you that the kickball game was much more entertaining, the drink table replaced you as my best friend. You'd be better off watching happy feet to learn dancing than copying me. But since swimming was out of the picture, I got online and searched for a local dance studio. And my story starts there! Dance has filled my off weekends with joy, pride, unforgettable memories and dear friends. Our painful expressions while stretching, riding the subway to performances, and nightly messaging is all documented in photos and in my mind. Dance has given me more than just something to do; it made me more confident of myself in front of others and built a sense of belonging with other dancers. It has become such a blessing in my life and I can't listen to a song without moving anymore.
DAY 4:Wifi. Self explanatory.
DAY 5: Health. Uh hello? I run a blog about food and health! Such a huge part of my life. I am thankful for my health, my strong body, and mental well being. Take care of and love yourself!
DAY 6: Nature. The outdoors. I live in a concrete jungle so walking to school in the morning or hiking on the weekends is a really nice, refreshing escape. Whenever I have time I try to walk instead of taking the bus or subway. It's invigorating to be one with nature.
DAY 7: Yoga. I've just recently taken up beginning and ending my days with a simple yoga routine, mostly from tara stiles. Her blog column is wonderfully inspiring as well, replete with reminders to be grateful, happy, and not compare ourselves to others. I really hope yoga will help me become more flexible and in tune with my mind and body. Plus I admire yogis so much, they take the best instagram photos in the best locations. And usually have great hair!! I bet it's the yoga vibes. Teach me your ways.
